Fog Tutorial

So my final product does not look as good as the tutorial, but I also know exactly why. There are 3 mistakes I made that I know to avoid in the future. The first problem is that the video has no "ground" in it, so the stationary fog on the bottom has nothing to sit on. Second of all, the camera moves, which makes the stationary fog obvious as an effect and the overlay less visible. Third of all, I thought I was clever in using rounded lines rather than straight lines first on the stationary fog, but that just ended up looking weird in general. These are all things I can avoid relatively easily in the future now that I know what I am doing.

  1. I don't think the effort is entirely in vain, while I don't see it as a fog/cloud effect, it does give me the feeling of a frosted window or view with the fog being stationary (and who knows maybe a frosted effect could be interesting to work with).

Either way refinement of the fog concept could be really cool to see played with transitioning elements in and out of it.

  2. I think you are trying something pretty ambitious and I respect you for it. Definitely keep working on it because it'll be awesome. I am excited to see how you incorporate your own personal introduction into the film.
